Departmental Exams

The Academy conducts departmental exams for CPWD employees. Employees of other departments are also allowed to appear in these exams as per request of their respective departments. The notifications for these exams are published on CPWD website and exams are conducted at various centers all over the country. These departmental exams are:

Departmental Exams for Junior Engineers

The Academy conducts departmental Exam on ‘Simple Accounts’ for Junior Engineers (C&E). Passing of this exam is compulsory for getting the second increment after joining service as JE (Civil & Electrical).

Departmental Exams for Assistant Engineers /Asst. Executive Engineers

The Academy conducts departmental Accounts Exam (three papers) for Assistant Engineers and Assistant Executive Engineers (Civil & Electrical) twice in a year. In addition to this, AEEs have to pass two engineering papers, two hindi language papers and a viva voice also. Passing of these exams is compulsory for getting the second increment after becoming AE/AEE in the department.

Departmental Exams for Executive Engineers

The Academy conducts departmental Exams for Executive Engineers (Civil & Electrical) twice in a year on the subjects of Accounts (three papers) and Laws of Contract (one paper). Passing of these exams is compulsory for getting the second increment after becoming Executive Engineer.

Departmental Exams for Section Officer (Horticulture)

The Academy conducts departmental Exam (one ‘Simple Accounts’ and one technical paper for SO (Hort.)). Passing of these exams is compulsory for getting the second increment after becoming Section Officer (Hort.).

Departmental Exams for Assistant Director (Horticulture)

The Academy conducts departmental Exam (three Accounts papers and one technical paper) for Assistant Director (Horticulture). Passing of these exams is compulsory for getting the second increment after becoming Assistant Director (Hort.).

Limited Departmental Competitive Exam (LDCE) for appointment as Junior Engineer

The Academy conducts Limited Departmental Competitive Exam (LDCE) for appointment as Junior Engineer as and when vacancies crop-up. The eligibility for this exam is that the employee should have minimum qualification of diploma/degree in engineering with minimum service of four years in the department

Limited Departmental Competitive Exam (LDCE) for promotion as Assistant Engineer

The Academy conducts Limited Departmental Competitive Exam (LDCE) for promotion from Junior Engineer to Assistant Engineer as and when vacancies arise. The eligibility for this exam is minimum four year service in department as Junior Engineer.

Exam Centres

Generally, above exams are conducted at following centres spread all over the country:
New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Bhopal, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Bangluru, Thiruananthpuram and Guwahati.

Appearing of Candidates from other Departments in above Exams

If any govt. department wishes to let their employees appear in any of the above exams for their own assessment/ promotion within their organisation then such candidates may be allowed on the request of respective departments to appear in above exams being conducted by CPWD Academy.
For this, the departments need to contact the centre in-charge of the above exam centres where they wish to appear for the exam and when their candidature is approved by centre in-charge, they will have to pay a fee of Rs. 2000/- per person per paper for appearing in the exam.
Such amounts will have to be deposited under head 0059 (Public Works – Other Receipt (Exam Fee)) by respective DDOs.
